FLORIDA ROOM

Day 1

Right now we just want to make this room as cozy as we can. There is glass that needs to be repaired and some wood cleanup that needs to happen, but for now we are just going to decorate. We will get to the glass and wood repair after the first pass of the entire house is complete.

Luckily I already have a lot of plants to fill up this room, but there are more to come. The plan is to add orchids, bromeliads and some cordalyns. We are also on the hunt for the perfect rug. Eventually, most of the furniture will be replaced except for the antique church pew and roll top desk.

We wanted to get some soft textures, and to do that shear white curtains were the choice. We wanted the curtains to feel like they were blowing in the breeze, so lightweight and shear helps to create that. We hung them high to create the feeling of a higher ceiling. I built the curtain rod from copper pipe. I did this for a couple reasons. I think the aesthetic fits in with our design, the single continuous rod with 45 degree angles at the corners is a nice touch and lastly, the cost. Although copper is expensive, finding rods of this length can be a pretty penny as well.

The dog has claimed this room as her own. She loves to sit in the sunbeams and sleep.
