GARAGE &
GUESTHOUSE
The guest house serves 2 purposes. One is a place for guests to stay. The other is to have a place to entertain and be able to open up as a pool house.

I always start with a design board. The design board gives us a general idea of aesthetics. This board changes over time and gets added to. Once we get the architectural drawings completed and the budget squared away we will start to tighten the design board and then build an item list.
We're describing it as an inspired Art Deco Luxury Hotel in the heart of New York in the 1920's. There will be Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Victorian elements throughout. A blend of the styles fits in well with the main house and it's important that the 2 spaces work together and that it feels as though the guesthouse was built when the main house was in 1925.

The garage will run parallel to the main house on the right side of the property. I've started to do some blueprint drawings of the layout, and this may change over time. Right now we're pulling inspiration from wherever we can find it.

We are using Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl of Studio Lifestyle in West Hollywood as inspiration for our design.

Now that we have an idea of what we want the next step is to pass these ideas along to the architect.
The architect starts with some sketches and through the back and forth we have decided on the finished floorpan. and elevation views.

DESIGN BOARD
Making the final decisions on the floorpan, caused the design board to evolve. The project goes from being an idea, to reality. The design board has shifted a bit, but the overall feel is the same. I will do this multiple times as we flush things out.
